Construction to begin for Route 1, North Frederica Grade Separated Intersection
The Department of Transportation announces that construction will begin on Monday, November 30 for the Route 1, North Frederica Grade Separated Intersection. This project will consist of all erosion and sediment control work; the relocation of the Kent County sewer lines, embankments, construction of the bridge, ramps, and acceleration/deceleration lanes adjacent to Route 1 on the northbound side; reconstruction of Route 12/Frederica Road; and the milling and paving of Route 1.
American Infrastructure-MD, Inc., is the low bidder for this contract. For this project, the firm submitted a bid of $6,917,777, the lowest of eight bids received. Construction is scheduled for completion within 390 calendar days, pending weather.
This is the second of six grade separated intersection improvements along Route 1.
Variable Message Signs will be in place to notify the public of lane restrictions or detours.
