ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act
DelDOT understands and is committed to providing accessibility for all users, customers, and beneficiaries of our programs, activities and public services, including persons with disabilities.
DelDOT endeavors to comply with the ADA through implementation of accessibility technical requirements described in the "Standards for Accessible Design" (issued as the "ADA Accessibility Guidelines - ADAAG") enforced by the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Transportation. DelDOT has adopted many of the features described in the federal accessibility standards in the Department's Design Standards. Since March 15, 2012, compliance with the 2010 Standards is required for new construction and alterations. More
DelDOT also offers and provides auxiliary aids (sign language interpreters, readers, Braille, large print text) upon request, to individuals participating in its programs or activities that have disabilities.
Individuals who feel that they have been subjected to discriminatory treatment or discrimination under Title II of the ADA or section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, can submit a complaint to the DelDOT ADA Title II Coordinator or contact the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.
