New Castle County - I-95 Restore the Corridor Project Shifts to Phase 2

Work to shift traffic onto the I-95 northbound lanes in Wilmington has been completed and phase 2 construction on the southbound lanes is now underway.

The I-95 Restore the Corridor project began in March 2021 and phase 1 was completed ahead of schedule. Phase 2 is expected to be completed near the end of 2022, and will consist of rehabilitating I-95 southbound from the Brandywine River Bridge to the I-95/I-295 split south of Wilmington.

As a result of the traffic shift, I-95 southbound Exit 6 to Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd and Fourth Street is now closed. The last southbound exit for the City of Wilmington is Exit 7A Delaware Avenue.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and drive attentively through the construction zone.
