TRAFFIC ALERT - Paving Work Near Indian River Inlet Bridge Will Begin Next Week With Lane Restrictions
Portions of Route 1 & Road 50A To Be Impacted
The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that Road 50A on the southwest side of the Indian River Inlet Bridge will be reconstructed beginning the week of October 22. Route 1 paving will begin next week with lane restrictions. Kuhn Construction is the general contractor for this work.
A reconstruction of Road 50A is scheduled to begin Monday, October 22. This work will require a closure of 50A Monday, October 22 through Friday, November 2. During this period, Route 1 traffic requiring entry to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control's (DNREC) southwest recreational area or to the South Marina Estates will use Access Road A. Access Road A is the entrance into the DNREC southeast parking area. A temporary connector road will be constructed between Access Road A and Road 50A. Detour signage will be in place directing traffic to the connector road.
A repaving of Route 1 in vicinity of the south embankment of the Indian River Inlet Bridge is scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 16. Throughout the project limits and duration of the repaving, Route 1 traffic will be restricted to one lane northbound and southbound until the scheduled Friday, November 2 completion date. This date is weather dependant.
