TRAFFIC ALERT - Paving Work Near Indian River Inlet Bridge Will Begin Next Week With Lane Restrictions

Portions of Route 1 & Road 50A To Be Impacted

Sussex County -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that Road 50A on the southwest side of the Indian River Inlet Bridge will be reconstructed beginning the week of October 22. Route 1 paving will begin next week with lane restrictions. Kuhn Construction is the general contractor for this work.

A reconstruction of Road 50A is scheduled to begin Monday, October 22. This work will require a closure of 50A Monday, October 22 through Friday, November 2. During this period, Route 1 traffic requiring entry to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control's (DNREC) southwest recreational area or to the South Marina Estates will use Access Road A. Access Road A is the entrance into the DNREC southeast parking area. A temporary connector road will be constructed between Access Road A and Road 50A. Detour signage will be in place directing traffic to the connector road.

A repaving of Route 1 in vicinity of the south embankment of the Indian River Inlet Bridge is scheduled to begin Tuesday, October 16. Throughout the project limits and duration of the repaving, Route 1 traffic will be restricted to one lane northbound and southbound until the scheduled Friday, November 2 completion date. This date is weather dependant.
