This project encompasses an area from the Rehoboth Avenue lighthouse roundabout at Grove Street, west across the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal Bridge, north past Church Street along Canal Street, and then both north along Hebron Road to the Holland Glade Road trailhead and west along Hebron Road to the Burton Avenue trailhead.
This project is being undertaken to improve safety and extend accessibility for pedestrian and bicyclist users of the highly popular Junction and Breakwater Trail from existing trailheads on Holland Glade Road and Hebron Road directly to Rehoboth Avenue. This project was initially presented as part of the 1st State Trails and Pathways public meetings in May 2012.
The likely design will be that of an eight to ten-foot wide, asphalt and/or concrete pathway suitable for bicycles and pedestrians separated from the roadway, where possible, by a grassed or landscaped buffer.
