ST. George's Maintenance Yard and Entrance Improvements

Comment submission has ended. Thank you.

Welcome to the Delaware Department of Transportation’s virtual workshop. The goals of the virtual workshop formats are to make it easier for more people to view the project information, and to reduce the costs involved in traditional public workshops. This is a workshop regarding the complete site renovation of the St. George’s Maintenance Yard and associated minor roadway modifications to Lorewood Grove Rd in New Castle County.

[Arial Map] The DelDOT St. George’s Maintenance Yard has been identified by DelDOT’s Facilities section as being in need of upgrade and complete site renovation. The maintenance yard and associated roadwork is on Lorewood Grove Rd between the intersection with Rt. 1 South exit ramp and the intersection of Lane Rd in New Castle County.

[Demolition Plan] As seen in the plans, DelDOT proposes to demolish the existing salt barn structure currently at the St. George’s Maintenance Yard site and remove the existing wood trailer, sheds, fuel pump, and other miscellaneous items.

[Construction Plan] | [Crew Operations Building Elevation] | [Vehicle Maintenance Shop Elevation] A new Crew Operations Building, Vehicle Maintenance Shop, fuel station, wash pad, and other amenities will be constructed. The maintenance yard site will be expanded for the construction of two truck sheds and a salt barn, on a separate, simultaneous DelDOT project. The widening of Lorewood Grove Rd is associated with the improved and expanded maintenance yard.

There is no detour necessary during construction. The project anticipates very little impact to traffic as all lanes will remain open during all three phases of construction.
