110 feet north and south of the bridge
There is significant corrosion at the waterline with 100% section loss at several locations throughout the pipes. The existing pipe is structurally deficient and was selected by the Pontis Bridge Management System for work. Replacement of this bridge will help the Department meet its performance measure for percentage of bridges in poor condition.
This project involves the replacement of Bridge 1-421. Work includes the replacement of the existing corrugated metal pipe with a reinforced concrete pipe. Additional work includes the placement of riprap in the stream for scour protection, and the reconstruction of the approaches as necessary. Work will be performed under full road closure with detour.
Design work to be completed no later than Summer 2018
Construction work to be completed Spring of 2019
This project will require a detour.
