300 feet northeast and southwest of bridge
There is significant corrosion at the waterline with 100% section loss at the ends and undermining of the slope around these areas. The existing pipes are structurally deficient and were selected by the Pontis Bridge Management System for work. This bridge is currently ranked 79th on the 2010 DelDOT Bridge Deficiency List.
This project involves the replacement of the existing corrugated metal pipes with a precast concrete three-sided frame. Additional work includes minor reconstruction of the approach roadway, installation of guardrail as needed, and placement of riprap in the stream to prevent scour. The work will be performed under a full road closure with detour.
Design work to be completed in Summer 2012.
Construction work to be performed during Fall of 2012.
