Routine structure maintenance extends the service life of bridges. The deterioration and cracking of the columns in the water are becoming critical to the capacity of the bridge. The joints above the columns also have to be repaired to prevent any further deterioration of the columns.
This project involves structure maintenance repairs to the two-column piers in Christina River, the finger joints over the piers, and the concrete barriers. Additional work includes concrete repairs to the north approach slabs. The work will be completed under lane closures.
Design work is scheduled to be completed by February 2019.
Construction work is scheduled to take place in the Summer of 2019.
