Thunder Hollow Road to Limestone Road
The deck and approach slabs on this bridge were severely corroded and spalled. The deck had full depth spalls and exposed rebar at multiple locations. The pedestrian railing did not meet current design standards and there was undermining of both slope protection aprons. This bridge qualified as part of DelDOT's structurally deficient deck inventory. As part of DelDOT's performance measures, we must maintain 10% or less deficient decks.
Performed rehab work on Bridge 1-191 to improve the condition. Rehab work included a full deck replacement; Replaced the joints; Upgraded the pedestrian rail to current design standards; Repaired spalls where needed; Painted beams and seal abutments and piers; Cleaned bearings; minor riprap placement.
Design work to be completed no later than October 2014
