Approximately 200 feet south and 250 feet east of bridge.
The bridge consists of two corrugated metal pipe arches with sack concrete headwalls and a concrete apron. The existing pipe arches are showing significant signs of corrosion and sinkholes are developing above the pipes. The bridge is currently load posted to detour heavy traffic loads traveling across it. The bridge is deemed structurally deficient. Due to this, a project to replace this structure has been initiated.
The existing bridge will be removed entirely and replaced with a new bridge. The new bridge will be a precast concrete frame with precast concrete wingwalls. New guardrail will be placed on the north side of Wedgewood Road. A concrete barrier will tie into existing guardrail on the south side of Wedgewood Road. Channel work will be performed 25 feet upstream and downstream to stabilize the channel and stream slopes. Utility poles will be relocated to accommodate the construction.
Design work to be completed no later than November 2013.
Construction work to be performed no later than May 2014.
Due to several utility conflicts at the project location, advance utility relocation work will need to be performed. This work shall consist of relocating specified utility poles on the north side of Wedgewood Road. This work shall be performed prior to the start of the construction phase.
