Highways, commercial rail, port services, air, and transit are all important to the support of these businesses and the jobs they bring to our state. Recently, Septa R2 service has added more choices for commuters and new commuter stations have been created at Fairplay Station at Churchmans Crossing and in Newark. Local events include the LPGA Women's Tournament, the Wilmington Flower Market, the Italian and Greek Festivals, concerts, sports, and events connected to the Wilmington Riverfront.
The location for Delaware's historic capital city of Dover and the Dover Air Force Base, which is the east coast's largest aerial port facility. Dover Downs is the scene of popular horse and car races, including nationally televised NASCAR races. Kent County enjoys a thriving agricultural economy concentrated on poultry production and supporting services. These are also dependent on our highways and commercial rail systems.
Sussex enjoys a thriving agricultural economy concentrated on poultry production and supporting services. These are dependent on our highways and commercial rail systems. Millions of tourists visit Sussex County's beautiful beaches each year. Visitors also depend on roadways to get them to and from these towns and on resort transit to get them around once they are there. The Cape May-Lewes Ferry, based in Lewes, is both a transportation option and an attraction.
