Press Release -- September 30, 2009
TRAFFIC ALERT - Sections of Route 301 Closed for Construction

Middletown -- As part of the Route 301 widening project, portions of Route 301 will be closed in the coming days.

From today until Friday, October 2, Crews from A-Del Construction will be placing the final layer of hotmix on West Main Street, between the railroad tracks and U.S. 301. Multiple flaggers and traffic officers will be controlling traffic, but motorists should expect delays in the area.

Starting Monday, October 5, traffic on the road will be altered as crews complete work on the median and paving along the northbound lanes. During the closure, crews will shift southbound U.S. 301 traffic south of West Main St / Bunker Hill Road onto one of the new southbound lanes. Northbound traffic will remain in their existing lane configuration during this construction.

As a part of this partial opening of the new U.S. 301 widening, a new traffic signal will begin operation at U.S. 301 and Levels Road, initially on flash mode starting on Mon, Oct 5, and then on full operation mode starting Wed, Oct 7.

The contractor for this project is A-Del Construction, and their work hours are from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The 301 project, which is expanding the road from two lanes to four lanes between the truck stop south of Middletown to just north of Peterson Road, began July 28, 2008 and is scheduled to be finished November 26, 2010. The overall project cost is $11 million.
