Smith Bridge Road Closed For Covered-Bridge Replacement

The Department of Transportation announces the closure of Smith Bridge Road between Route 100 and Creek Road for the replacement of Smith Bridge and other roadway improvements. The road is currently closed and will remain closed until the end of December 2002.
The project involves replacing the current structure with a one-lane covered bridge. In addition, the roadway approach to the bridge will be realigned to provide improved sign distance. The design plans for this project were developed in conjunction with a community working group.
The detour route will be Smith Bridge Road to Ramsey Road to Thompson Bridge Road to Montchanin Road, and then back to Smith Bridge Road.
