Construction Start Delayed On Smith's Bridge

The Delaware Department of Transportation announces that the start of work on the replacement of Bridge 9 on Smith Bridge Road has been delayed.
Utility contractors were unable to remove overhead lines in time for DelDOT's planned start date of Monday, July 29. The project is now anticipated to start in mid-August.
The project involves replacing the current structure with a one-lane covered bridge. In addition, the roadway approach to the bridge will be realigned to provide improved sight distance. The design plans for this project were developed in conjunction with a community Working Group.
Additional information, including the detour route, will be provided as the start date approaches.
