On Saturday, August 2 and 9, 2003, the Department conducted a traffic survey as a part of the the study. Motorists were asked a series of questions about the origin and destination of their respective travel. The survey was completely voluntary and motorists were under no obligation whatsoever to participate. Over 21,000 surveys were distributed and over 2,000 surveys were returned to the Department, which resulted in a return rate of 10%.

Hopefully, the responses to the surveys will allow us to have a better understanding of travel along the corridor and, more specifically, in Sussex County. This will be beneficial and useful in appropriately modeling traffic as well as planning for future road improvements in Sussex County.
