Safety Award
Kirkwood Highway, SR 141 to SR 100, Elsmere
| Kirkwood Highway, SR 141 to SR 100, Elsmere involved PCC patching and roadway resurfacing, repairs to two bridges, over $300,000 in landscaping improvements, and new curb and sidewalk throughout the project limits.
The project also included:
- Team efforts from design, construction, public relations, consultant inspectors, prime contractor and Construction Working Group
- Selection by DCA as best roadway construction project over $5 million
- Unique replacement of parapet wall to appear aged
- Construction incentives and construction methodology that reduced traffic impact by months
- Special patching procedure of deteriorated pavement to limit the remaining concrete’s exposure to weather and traffic
