On Wednesday, July 28, Skanska USA Civil Southeast, Inc., the contractor building the new Indian River Inlet Bridge, took time out for safety training. The one-day training section was specific to the bridge project, in that it targeted such things as proper rigging, ladder placement, mock scenarios, and included both classroom and actual work station training.
Miller Fall Protection Road Show, as featured in the photo, is an onsite trainer that assisted with the training. Skanska employees, and some DelDOT employees also helped facilitate the training.
Safety is a priority for Skanska, especially on this job working near the high velocity inlet. Proper training and reinforcement of safety precautions is paramount for both Skanska and DelDOT. Building the bridge is important, but building it safely is even more important.
