Safe Routes to School Program

Safe Routes to School programs makes it safe, convenient and fun for children to walk or bicycle to school. Elementary and middle schools can receive funding through Delaware Safe Routes To School Program.

National Center for Safe Routes to School (NCSRTS) data collection surveys are to be used for evaluation of SRTS projects and programs. Completed survey forms for participating schools should be sent to the Delaware Safe Routes to School Coordinator, not the National Center. The Delaware SRTS Program, in partnership with Delaware Risk Watch and the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension's Community Traffic Safety Program, is pleased to introduce the new Delaware Bicycle Safety Booklet. This interactive coloring and activity booklet was developed for children in Kindergarten through the 3rd grade and features "Lily the Ladybug", created by Tanya Shelton. Illustrations by children in Delaware elementary schools are featured throughout. More information about ordering copies for the upcoming 2009-2010 school year will be available soon.
