Fred is a certified health education specialist. As the Director of Public Health Education, he represents Delaware's Division of Public Health on the Council.

Fred is well respected by health professionals and cyclists alike, and is known for his concern regarding bicycle safety. He is interested in promoting bicycling as a fun, healthy activity in the hopes of attracting new cyclists. An authority on risk factors for Delawareans, he is concerned about sedentary lifestyles and their effect on wellness.

With his wife and teenage son, Fred enjoys being outdoors along the quiet Kent County roads surrounding his home near Dover. He bicycles primarily because it's a fun way to stay healthy and fit. Although he "cross trains" with many types of exercise, including working out at the "Y", swimming and walking, bicycling is the most fun for him. Fred observes, "One can enjoy the sounds and sights of nature so much better when walking or riding a bicycle."

Fred is very active in Delaware's Audubon Society. His other interests include the environment, music of nearly any type, and developing Internet websites for Public Health and for the Audubon Society.

He can be reached at his office, 8-4:30 weekdays, by calling 302-739-4724, or by paper mail at DPH, PO Box 637, Dover, DE 19903. Since Fred is away from his office much of the time, the easiest way to reach him is by email.
