U.S. 113 North/South Study - Millsboro-South Area
Draft Environmental Impact Statement Available August 16, 2013

Public Comment Period Ends October 4, 2013

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) recently completed the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the U.S. 113 North/South Study, Millsboro-South Area, to preserve a corridor for future expansion of U.S. 113 from south of the intersection of U.S. 113 and Avenue of Honor to the Maryland/Delaware state line. The Millsboro-South Area includes the towns of Millsboro, Dagsboro, Frankford and Selbyville. The comprehensive document will be available on DelDOT's website for viewing and downloading at www.deldot.gov/information/projects/us113/ on August 16, 2013, and a formal notice will appear in the Federal Register on that date. The public comment period will end Friday, October 4, 2013.

The purpose of the U.S. 113 North/South Study is to establish a continuous limited access facility to address the severe traffic congestion in this study area, particularly during the summer. All build alternatives identified in the DEIS also include bypass alternatives for SR 24 in Millsboro and SR 26 in Dagsboro.

The DEIS is a federally-required document that examines the impacts of proposed transportation projects to be built with federal funds in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The DEIS is a key step in the project planning phase and includes input from state and federal resource and regulatory agencies, extensive public involvement, in-depth engineering studies, and detailed environmental analyses. In conjunction with the release of the DEIS, DelDOT has identified the Blue Alternative as the Recommended Preferred Alternative.

Interested persons may request a free CD of the DEIS by calling DelDOT Public Relations at 302-760-2080. Additionally the DEIS can be viewed online at: www.deldot.gov/information/projects/us113/, and at the following locations:
