TRAFFIC ALERT - SR 26 Widening Project - Anticipated Lane Closures
Ocean View -- The Department of Transportation's (DelDOT) reminds motorists of the preliminary work along Route 26.
Beginning Monday, February 3, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. through Friday, February 7, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. the contractor will be clearing and grubbing (removal of trees, shrubs, stumps, and rubbish) the south side of SR 26 from Irons Lane to SR 17. Motorists should anticipate the eastbound lane to be closed with traffic alternating utilizing a flagging operation.
George & Lynch is the contractor for the project. Construction of the four-mile long project along Route 26 will widen the existing two-lane roadway to include two eleven-foot travel lanes with five-foot shoulder/bike lanes and a twelve-foot wide continuous shared center left turn lane.
Motorists should drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
