Stay Alert on Independence Day
Dover -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reminds all travelers to anticipate heavy traffic in all parts of the state starting on Wednesday, July 3.
Planned lane closures on Delaware's major roadways, Route 1, I-95, and U.S. Route 202 will be suspended on Thursday, July 4. Traffic accidents and other unpredictable types of transportation incidents may cause lane closures and/or delays.
Motorists can adjust their routes or travel times by using DelDOT's Smartphone application. The DelDOT App is available for Apple & Android smart phones and tablets, and can be downloaded free at the Apple and Google Play stores or go to DelDOT and click on the link to stores.
Drivers are encouraged to call the following numbers to report any travel or traffic related issues: Dial #77 from any cell phone; (302) 659-4600 or 1-800-324-8379. Please dial 911 for emergencies.

Motorists may stop at the I-95 Service Plaza or the Smyrna Rest Area/Exit 119 on Route 1. These amenities are open each day for motorists.
If you're headed to Delaware beaches, DART First State's Resort Transit operates eight transit routes in the resort area serving Rehoboth, Dewey, Bethany, Fenwick, Lewes, Georgetown, Long Neck, and Ocean City, Maryland operating 7 days a week through mid-September. DelDOT urges all motorists to consider travel during off peak hours. Please slow down at toll plazas and obey traffic laws.
