TRAFFIC ALERT - Bridge Maintenance Will Require Daytime Shoulder Closures and Nighttime Lane Closures on Kirkwood Highway
Newark -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that Mumford & Miller Concrete, Inc., will be doing bridge deck repairs on the bridge over Red Clay Creek on Kirkwood Highway between Newport Gap Pike and Duncan Road in Newark. The work is scheduled to begin on Sunday, April 28 and will end on Friday, May 24, pending weather.
Motorists can expect the following impacts:
Daytime shoulder closures will occur from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Nighttime intermittent double lane closures from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
This is a WORK ZONE and extreme caution is essential. Motorists are advised to reduce
speeds as they travel through this maintenance work zone and expect minor delays in this area.
Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming construction. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes.
