The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District will close one lane of traffic each way on the Summit Bridge beginning on Monday, March 11 at 9 AM.
The two-way lane closures are expected to continue into the summer months.
The lane closures are necessary to facilitate the sandblasting, steel repair, and painting that are about to resume on the bridge. The contractor, Marinis Brothers of New Castle, Delaware, has already closed one lane of traffic, in the southbound direction, as it begins to put up outriggers and erect containing tarps.
The bridge will be fully closed for one weekend this spring, probably at the end of April, in order to facilitate the replacement of several sections of the barrier wall that separates traffic.
