Press Release -- February 28, 2013
DelDOT Will Participate in Delaware Home and Garden Show this weekend

Staff will encourage people to register for Adopt A Highway

Dover -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and the Delaware Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will be exhibiting at this weekend's Delaware Home and Garden Show, hoping to expand a program that helps keep neighborhood roads and streets attractive, and answering questions about the various services they provide throughout the state.

The principle aim of the DelDOT display will be an effort to sign up volunteers for the agency's Adopt A Highway program. Although more than 700 groups already participate in Adopt A Highway, there are many locations throughout the state where roads are not regularly kept free of liter by citizen volunteers. By agreeing to clean up liter at least three times a year along a portion of their adopted road, individuals, families, businesses and groups can perform a valuable community service. DelDOT will recognize their efforts by erecting a special sign along their adopted roadway with their name on it.

DelDOT and DMV will share a table at the show, where staff will be on hand to answer questions about Adopt A Highway, as well as licenses, registrations, or any other DMV-related services.

In addition, DelDOT and DMV will give away a five-digit tag number CP 5550, and the black and white tag that goes with it. Visitors to the booth can register for free. The winning ticket will be chosen at 3 p..m.. Sunday, and the winner does not need to be present to win.

The Delaware Home and Garden Show is be being held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, 815 Justison Street, Wilmington, on Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Sunday, March 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
