DelDOT is pre-treating roads in New Castle before snow arrives
New Castle crews will be fully mobilized tomorrow morning at 5 a.m.
Dover -- In preparation for the snow that is likely to fall tomorrow in New Castle County, crews from the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) are currently pre-treating the major roads and many of the bridges in New Castle County with a salt and water mixture known as brine.
Tomorrow, starting at 5 a.m. DelDOT crews in New Castle County will be fully mobilized. They will be pre treating the roads before snow begins to fall. This means approximately 210 people about that many pieces of equipment will be out before dawn. They will continue to remain on the job until the roads are safe.
In Kent and Sussex Counties, crews will be activated if the conditions change.
The DelDOT Transportation Management Center, based in Smyrna, is manned 24 hours a day with staff who monitor weather stations, road temperatures, and traffic cameras. These personnel can quickly mobilize plow operators and other personnel if conditions change.
