Dover -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces increased traffic volumes are expected on Delaware's roadways beginning Wednesday, November 21. DelDOT urges motorists to drive safely, allow extra time to reach your destination, and obey traffic laws to ensure a safe trip. And this year, DelDOT has an app for that!

The DelDOT App, currently available for Android users, can be downloaded free to the public at the Google Play store. The application includes the latest news, events, traffic, and travel information. Find out the latest before your trip:

* View streaming traffic cameras
* Advisories for accidents and other incidents on the roadways

The iPhone version will be available soon for download from the Apple Store.

DelDOT plans to suspend all lane closures related to construction work on Delaware' major corridors starting at noon on Wednesday, November 21 and lasting until 6 a.m. on Monday, November 26. Emergency maintenance work and closures may still occur due to traffic accidents.

Over the holiday weekend, DelDOT's Transportation Management Center (TMC) will monitor over 5,500 miles of state-maintained roads around the clock. TMC staff through a variety of automated systems to include electronic detection and video cameras will monitor the transportation system and adjust computerized traffic signal systems in response to increased demand or incidents.

Transportation officials are recommending that motorists should take their trip early to avoid delays. The tollbooths at the I-95 Newark Plaza, Route 1- Biddle's Corner Plaza, and Route 1-Dover Plaza will have extra personnel to ease traffic congestion.

DART First State's statewide transit services, for both fixed route and paratransit service, will not operate on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22. On Friday, November 23, DART First State fixed routes and paratransit service will operate on their regular schedules. Additional transit information can be found on DART First State

SEPTA Wilmington/Newark Line will operate on Thanksgiving Day with service to Claymont and Wilmington. The line will operate on the Holiday Schedule which is the same as their normal Saturday/Sunday schedule. For additional information, please contact SEPTA
