As a Delaware Department of Transportation newly assigned entry level Civil Engineer
with the Division of Transportation Solutions you will have an opportunity to receive exposure
to several different Divisions within the Department, listed above. The extent of your exposure is specifically tailored to your personal interests
and your hiring division's needs. During your first 6 to 12 months you will be provided with opportunities to explore many Engineering facets of the Department, participate in continuing education courses while concentrating on your area of specific assignment. The experience will provide you with a solid record of accomplishments and a broad-based perspective of the Department.

The Engineer Trainee Program emphasizes professional development
for newly graduated civil engineers through individual career management during the critical
early years of your career. You and your supervisor
will work together planning each assignment, guiding
your professional growth, while ensuring that critical
business needs are met. You will receive on-the-job
training and will participate in Department-sponsored
continuing education courses.
DelDOT also recognizes that more than technical training is
necessary for professional development. Engineer
Trainees gather at developmental meetings interacting
with their peers, networking with Department representatives,
while learning about various job opportunities available.
For more than a decade the Delaware Department of Transportation has been able to successfully train recent Civil Engineer graduates into becoming more technically knowledgeable Professional Engineers while they contribute in perpetuating the overall success of the Department.
